This is a neat historical area to visit - both from a railroad and local historical perspective. It was the site of one of the worst flood catastrophes in US history - an event that could have been prevented but occurred anyhow due to the ignorance of man. It's ironic that railroad tracks now pass through the area that was once under water due to the construction of the South Fork Dam. So, if you are a history buff, a railfan, and you are in this area, the local museum (not shown off to the right) and walk to the South Fork Dam are worth the visit.
