Joe - wonderful photo, and I love the contrast between the 1965/1966 built Diesels, and the futuristic "space age" looking Avelia trainset. I will point out one correction in your information, though: WNYP No. 435 is not a C424 - but is a C425, and neither of these locomotives were built by MLW. No. 427 is a C424 - so that is a correct identification for that unit! This is a pairing of Alco C425 No. 435 and Alco C424 No. 427. This information is directly from the WNYP Locomotive Roster list. C424 (Alco) No. WNYP 427 (Bldr No.) 3461-07 (Bldr Date) 06/1966

Dana, looks like there is some conflicting information on these units. Railroad Picture Archives shows the following: WNYP 435 C424 Ex. WNYP 4228, ME 4228, DL 4228, QGRY 4228, CP 4228 Blt. 1965 by MLW and WNYP 427 C425 Ex. WNYP 4264, PVRX 4264, ME 4264, MCER 4264, AM 4264, BN 4264, SPS 326 Blt. 1966 by Alco.

Joe - apparently. Either the Railroad Picture Archives has the wrong information and the photographer who posted the photos is mistaken, or the Western New York & Pennsylvania doesn't know their own locomotives. Their roster list on their official website lists both of these units as being built by Alco. However, since Montreal Locomotive Works was a subsidiary of Alco, the identification could be considered as being built by both, MLW and/or Alco. Either way, they are of the same Alco/MLW design, and they are operational, so I guess their identities remain a mystery. LOL!!

Are you looking at the Diesel Shop roster? There is no locomotive roster on the official WNYP website. https://wnyprr.com/
