This was about the last year for these great old beasts. I think I have a shot of one in 85 or 86.
The old enginehouse is still there in this shot. The late 3500s-early3600s were in an aborted merger number series and were the first L&N units delivered in FL.

Another U25 captured before the were gone. Louisville seemed especially rapid in getting these in FL so I have almost none in "real" L&N.

Last order of GP-40s for what is now CSX was a small one delivered to L&N. This one is waiting at the usual spot to get into former SAL hump yard at Hamlet.

L&N U25B has a new home in Oak Ridge , Tn.
NB empty train with SOU pool power is in no hurry to go. In those days they'd set for hours.
