During the 1981 Cass Railfan Weekend, Shays 4 and 3 execute a runby. I believe that this was on the tail of the upper switchback, near Whittaker Station.
In a scene that could have taken place 60+ years ago, Cass shays 2 and 5 rest near the Cass Shops as WM shay 6 backs down the hill from Whittaker station, returning to the depot
The engineer for the Bald Knob train lubes up the Shay before departing the depot at Cass
Lima c/n 2172. Outside under a lean-to. Missing many internal parts, but notheless has survived at least two fires.
#2 is waiting in the siding for the Bald Knob train to go by
shay #2 waiting at Cass depot for the passenger cars and shay #11 to come from the shops. They will push the train up the hill to avoid getting coal cinders on everybody
shays 2 and 11 work hard to push the train up the mountain
train stops about 3/4 way to the top for water, picture taken from aboard the train
