Returning to Roanoke with the third and final Radford excursion of 2015, I caught this pan shot of 611 across a field.
Thunder on Blue Ridge: N&W Class J 611 climbs the Blue Ridge Mountains at the grade's namesake CPL signals with The Powhatan Arrow in tow.

The clouds begin to part as Norfolk and Western 611 splits the classic N&W CPL's in Montvale, Virginia along the former N&W Blue Ridge District.
The Pullman car brings up the rear of the Westbound Pelican as it leaves Christiansburg, Virginia, bound for Radford where it will turn and return to Roanoke.

As darkness falls over the City of Greensboro, the Norfolk & Western J Class 611 returns to the Greensboro Amtrak Station after the first day of the "Roanoker" excursion.
Continuing southbound on the Danville District, NS excursion train 958 with the Norfolk & Western 611 in charge crawls by the small community of Dry Fork under a 25 mph speed restriction.
The Queen of Steam is right on schedule as she steams past a local cemetery and continues southbound toward Greensboro during the Roanoker excursions.
