Crossing Tehachapi creek at the south end of Woodford siding on a pleasant fall afternoon.

Veiling its train in smoke and heat, 4141 accelerates out of Mojave with a Z train between Mojave and Sanborn.

Having just conquered Tehachapi Pass, this extremely long stack train is seen approaching Mojave. This train had two DPU units assisting which are visible to the right.

Nearly 7000 feet of train are compressed in this 300mm shot as the BNSF unit grain approaches Mojave and the UP line over Tehachapi Pass.

Exiting Tunnel 10, UP 4200 continues its climb towards Tehachapi Summit and the Mojave Desert.

Under a full moon I shot this 5 minute 52 second exposure of a long BNSF pig train between Tunnel 10 and Marcel. The long string of trailers created a nice ghosting effect under the moonlight.

Climbing out of the Narrows.

Dwarfed by the hills rising above Caliente, this BNSF manifest is descending into the southern end of the Narrows. It will soon be in the relatively flat Central Valley.

The dynamic brake resistors are throwing off a lot of heat as these two DPU locomotive's traction motors work to restrain the descent at Woodford.

CSX 7800 and BNSF 4526 are the DPU power on this train descending Tehachapi at Tunnel 10. The front end of the train is on the loop.
