The day is coming to an end and the clouds are intensifying over the Christiansburg District as an unknown westbound grain train approaches the grade crossing at Vicker.

Through Christiansburg proper, NS No. 189 passes the soon-to-be-replaced N&W CPL's on its dreary trek across the N&W mainline to Bluefield from Roanoke.

Even on the third straight day of excursions, the 611 doesn't fail to draw a crowd! Hundreds of people line the tracks clear through the yard, and on both sides of the street behind me.

On a dark and dreary summer evening, the Class J 611 makes her way under the coaling tower at Vicker and continues toward Walton to make the turn on the wye.

Several hundred spectators gathered in downtown Christiansburg, VA to witness N&W J-Class 611 as it leads a Roanoke to Walton round trip excursion through town.

The afternoon excursion thunders past the ex-N&W depot on the way to Walton where it will turn on the wye and return to Roanoke.

611 rolls down the grade from Christiansburg enroute to Radford, VA.

On a beautiful morning on the Christiansburg District, the Penn Central heritage unit leads train 234 through "Vicker". Later, they will meet up with the Southern unit on down the line.
