Westbound EL train at Griffith IN junction

On the last day of the EJ&E, two beautiful orange SD38-2's lead a State Line Empties coal train south towards Griffith Interlocking. There, the train will turn west and head for Joliet.

The EJ&E Line Train West, bound for Joliet, has two off-line UP units in consist as it rounds the curve, crosses the GTW, and heads west at Griffith.

EJE&E 657 leans into the sharp curve that leads the EJ&E mainline from south to west at Griffith, IN. The train is bound for Joliet, IL.

Passing as it had many years ago through Griffith, ex Erie Lackawanna SDP45 3655 hits the GTW diamonds at this forlorn NW Indiana hotspot. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

EJ&E Kirk Switcher #1 is heading home after interchanging with UP at Chicago Heights and CN at Matteson.

The "Line Train" is about to rattle across the CN Diamonds. The old Griffith Interlocking Tower and some retired MOW equipment can be seen in the background.
