Illinois Central ultimately acquired the very first SD45 produced by EMD. Prototype SD45 4351 became IC 7000 in January 1971. The 7000 lasted until 1987, when it was scrapped.

I purchased this 1950s era photo in the early to mid 1970s at a Chicago area train show / swap meet event. The seller was not the photographer. Photographer unknown.
