All is quiet at 6:30am on Sunday morning as the Blizzard of 2009 is over. Track one has been cleared by Amtrak 19 & 20, the only trains in 24 hours.

Mid-morning sun bathes this museum across from the Amtrak station as a westbound empty coal train leaves town for its mountain climb.

An eastbound empty grain train is about to enter the Hermosa Tunnels (twin bores) on the western slope of Sherman Hill between Laramine and Cheyenne. The actual summit is two miles to the east.

A westbound manifest climbs the east slope of Sand Patch Grade. The kids wave..the "train man" waves...everybody smiles.

An eastbound manifest makes the relatively easy climb towards the summit on Sherman Hill. The grandeur of Wyoming is evident on this Sunday morning.
