The westbound California Zephyr is running somewhat late at Floy, Utah, but the passengers are enjoying a spectacular sunset over Utah's desert country.

Looking more like Mars than Earth, the eastbound California Zephyr skirts the Book Cliffs in eastern Utah. This is likely one of the most difficult spots I've ever shot. Railroad: Amtrak

Amtrak's eastbound Empire Builder is on the advertised as it threads its way through the rocky north bank of the Columbia River.

The sound of 12,300 struggling horsepower reverberates across the Canyon Ferry Lake Valley as BNSF 9357 west crawls upgrade at Bedford, MT.

One of my all time favorites, a photo that was worth smashing the rental car for.
