Our timing was perfect as we only had to wait about 20 minutes for this eastbound to appear in Lake Benton. Such a cool spot to catch some classic power on the Dakota, Minnesota, and Eastern.

Frost covers most everything this morning as the 277 train bound for Huron, SD glides through the scenic Lake Benton area. The fog let just enough sun in to give the scene a pink tint.
A pair of good lookin' EMD's howl through the large valley just south and west of Lake Benton, MN. After a few sharp curves, the tracks head west-northwest into South Dakota.

Not too many takers for the ice houses on Lake Benton today with an artic blast from the northwest keeping things a tad bit on the chilly side.
An eastbound drag picks up speed on the welded rail south of Lake Benton, MN. It's common to see DME and ICE power pooled on road trains.
