Class 9E 9023 brings up the rear of a loaded ore train as it passes through a S curve between Loop 7 & 8 in the Northern Cape. The second helper loco can also be seen in the distance.

An empty ore train is heading back to the mines having just gone through a big cut between Loop 6 & 7 with E9008 at the back.

A loaded ore train drops down the grade with E9014 at the back and also some extra covered wagons added on behind the ore wagons.

E9014 sits alone at the end of an empty ore train just after sunset with the lead loco 3.7km into the distance waiting to cross an approaching loaded ore train.

Interesting consist leading this empty ore train, an electric, a passenger car and 3 diesels which were working quite hard as is evident by the smoke.

E9019 leads an empty ore train out of the Orex yard at Saldanha, at this point it had still its pantograph down with diesels behind it doing all the work.

Today was my birthday and what better way to spend it than to go chase trains! Here 2 class 34s and class 9E electric pushes at the back of a very long empty ore train.
