Just arrived at Bixby siding in Advance, NC. after stalling out on excursion duty, the 611 will wait until rescue units pickup the stalled train and take train into Winston-Salem.

The last time N&W 611 would ever climb Saluda Grade. The announcement that the program would end was only had a few weeks before. I was so lucky to be here to capture this.

The 2nd to last steam excursion to ever descend Saluda Mountain. The very last trip would be in November of 1994.
