Turning inland toward the now ignored Del Mar station, the Racetrack, and eventually Solana Beach Station.
With a beautiful day on the Pacific coast and 17 minutes on the parking meter I was able to snag this shot in between family-friendly activities!
An Amtrak San Diegan is not far from its final destination of San Diego as it skirts the Pacific Ocean at Del Mar, California. Note the two privately owned dome cars on the rear.
The amazing thing of the late night/early morning coastal fog and clouds (June Gloom) is that it can be thick fog just a mile west of bright sun.
Just for kicks, the Torrey Pines Golf Course is two miles south of here. However, it's not accessible by train and is on the bluffs of La Jolla.
Rolling above the Pacific Ocean, downgrade along the bluffs in Del Mar.

The train is crossing over the San Dieguito River. The Del Mar Racetrack is just to the right and across the river from where I am.
And that is the Pacific Ocean off to the right.
That is the historic North Torrey Pines Road Bridge in the background.
