This UP coal train isn't down from the Rockies just yet as it eases down the Big Ten Curve. It's still 20 miles away from UP's North Yard in Denver.

Westbound UP 4275 has just cleared Tunnel 40, the shortest one on the Moffat Road at 63' in length.

I think I hiked high enough to get this birds-eye view of an eastbound UP coal train alongside the Colorado River...

UP 6724 leads this eastbound coal along the Colorado River, a few minutes out from reaching Bond. The 3 mid-train helpers are just coming into view around the corner.

A westbound empty with 8 engines follows the curves of the Colorado River on an overcast day. Very, very little snow left in this area of the state for this time of year.
