I believe this was the only order from GE during the short existence of this interim railroad. No EMD trade-in trucks on these.
Originally ACL, ex-SCL. Gotta love those 45s.
Coming off the Atlanta Division bound for points north I guess. I confess I never paid much attention to where trains originate or terminate, only to where the train and I are going to be simulta... (more)
Two trains wait to get into the yard by the common but odd procedure of running up the on SAL main to the north end of the yard and backing into the receiving yard.
Battered and neglected, reduced to yard duty, two former SAL veterans are given the task of helping a train go up the main to back into the inbound yard. The 2121's consist has a lame horse and t... (more)
Nice looking in th new paint job.
Extended D/B and high headlight are dead giveaways that this is an ex-CRR unit. Train behind is a daily train 466 on the Winston Salem Southbound which mixed power from the two competitors.
Originally SCL, this model was somewhat overshadowed by the more numerouse U36Bs.
Sounding more like a overgrown tractor than most GEs, these were always neat to find. Looks like the hostler is moving her to the ready track in the "field".
Originally L&N this unit is actually CSX at this point but they didn't letter yet so it's fair SBD game in my book. Note the wimpy little tank. EMD reduced the length to decrease capacity, GE th... (more)
I didn't see this very often. Four of the rebuilds bring up an inbound ballast train. This was the spot. Almost everything passed by the washer.
Another ex-L&N unit, looking spiffy, and wearing its original number. Hamlet was great in those days. Pack a lunch, park and let 'em parade by.
Originally SCL, traded to CRR for U36Cs, now back in the compilation, we wonder if there hasn't been a fan out late at night with a little MEK and a rag and dreams of altering a sad reality.
I think this is the only one of two of the 38s I got in SBD paint and in its original number series. An ex-L&N unit.
It's so close....., but bad clone tool, evil clone tool!
