A busy scene at Cardiff Central as an Arriva Trains Wales Class 175 DMU arrives while an HST 125 with a Great Western service prepares to depart.

An HST swings into the Welsh capital while a 170 with a Cross Country service departs. The scene will change in the years ahead when the Great Western Main Line is electrified.

Sheds! A surprise was two Class 66's leading this empty steel coil train rolling through Cardiff Wales. The Class 66 nicknamed "shed" by enthusiasts are widely used in the UK, built by EMD.

An HST swings along the sea wall in Dawlish. Now if you look very closely you can spot the 40th anniversary HST power car bringing up the rear. It's 43002 painted in BR colors.

Celebrating a birthday on May 29 is 611. It's "birth certificate" adorns the streamliner jacketing on each side of the smoke box.

By the sea! Great Western HST blasts through Dawlish. This railway station is exceptionally unique that it sits upon a sea wall and has a history of wave damage.

A Cross Country HST blasts through the station as Maryann gets her photos. Most of Cross Country's services here are with the Voyagers but they do throw a few HST's in the mix.

An HST rolls along the famous sea wall, past the old Coast Guards cottage. The HST125's have been largely replaced by the Class 800 /802 sets, outside of some 4 car HSTs for local SW services.

Waves lash at an HST. The waves can get considerably bigger here and in February 2014 took out part of the line. With the threat of storms and climate change a new & larger seawall was built.

GWR HST rolls along the sea wall. This section was destroyed by a storm in 2014 and rebuilt months later. There is talk reopening a route inland as this is the only line into the southwest.

A set of Pacers rolls along the repaired part of the sea wall. A storm in February 2014 destroyed this section. The pacers are set to be withdrawn.
