The night train Nice - Strasbourg is crossing the Napoule viaduct along the Mediterranean Sea.

By the sea! Great Western HST blasts through Dawlish. This railway station is exceptionally unique that it sits upon a sea wall and has a history of wave damage.

The night train linking Nice to Strasbourg is running along the Mediterranean Sea and the Esterel mountains.

An HST rolls along the famous sea wall, past the old Coast Guards cottage. The HST125's have been largely replaced by the Class 800 /802 sets, outside of some 4 car HSTs for local SW services.

Waves lash at an HST. The waves can get considerably bigger here and in February 2014 took out part of the line. With the threat of storms and climate change a new & larger seawall was built.

GWR HST rolls along the sea wall. This section was destroyed by a storm in 2014 and rebuilt months later. There is talk reopening a route inland as this is the only line into the southwest.

A set of Pacers rolls along the repaired part of the sea wall. A storm in February 2014 destroyed this section. The pacers are set to be withdrawn.

The 909 trots over the Bush River as a jet skier heads in for the afternoon.

Dawlish! For years I have wanted to come here. We finally made it and after a spell of unsettled weather things improved. Here an HST 125 sweeps along Marine Parade.

The Class 143 DMU is among the most hated by Britons, for all intents a "bus" on rails. However in the years ahead these will be retired.

At Dawlish, a class 220 Voyager slides down the seawall as thunderstorms build in the distance.
