Coming out of the Royal Gorge at Parkdale, the train passes some of the dozens of rafts heading into the canyon. The locomotive was once owned by the CNW and sold by the UP to the CCRG.
On the way back to Alamosa after a trip to Monte Vista, #1744 crosses a small trestle. The SL&RG ran a series of trips from Alamosa To Monte Vista as part of the rodeo being held last weekend.
