This one is a year into Seaboard Systemand still unaltered by company barbarians, as most were.

On 12/29/1982 the Seaboard System came into being. This brought some unbesmirched out of towners to the yard in those early days. Here is an all L&N consist.

The yard was a rather ragtag place in a bad sign of town but we never had any trouble taking pictures.

Each one of these appeared to be a little different and were prized catches.

Still looking good in what is probably the original paint job.

Taken from the Monon and moved to the coal fields, these units lasted about another decade hauling coal and looking good with the jaunty bell mounted on the short hood.

Cheap gray paint job and a small tank distinguish this unit sitting on the old SAL main.

I got this one on the west side the day prior and stayed the night because I would never see it again. This is the east side.

It was late in the afternoon when I got this shot and I knew we'd never meet again so we spent the night.

Relegated to the dead line, ths unit has a most unusual sideways horn. I wondered if it operated that way. They would have mounted it that way if it saved a nickel, I'm sure.

Feeding eight motors required high throttle settings and this ex-TC unit is slugging it out as it shoves a large cut of the stuff that made Corbin great.

Classic power and unusual to see in the coal country I was familiar with.
