Amidst clear skies, waist deep snow, and ice covered trees, Durango & Silverton K-28 #478 braves the elements working upgrade just south of Rockwood, Colorado.
D&S 480 crosses the Animas River in Durango. There aren't to many places in the world where you can see narrow gauge steam cross a bridge like this in a city.
D&S 478 splits the rock walls approaching Rockwood.
D&RGW 478 works it's train through the cut at Rockwood before stopping to drop off passengers. Soon it will be on its way home.
