On the west side of the plant, switcher 1012 and traction slug S-3 work on a single coil car.

Roaring through NS (ex-NYC) territory, bound for Detroit and environs.

An eastbound UP freight running through on IHB rolls into the sunrise, while a CN freight led by a NS locomotive rolls over in the background, approaching CN Markham Yard.

Not remotely-controlled today, though.

The morning Wolverine races through steel mill country at track speed. Notice the three drawbridges on the horizon, two of which (I believe) are permanently drawn.

Off to Pontiac, Michigan, the last Wolverine of the day heads over the massive lift bridge which has surely carried in the millions of passenger trains over the south branch of the Chicago ... (more)

Amtrak's Blue Water push-pulled by P42s #37/31 heads out of Chicago, bound for Port Huron, MI, where it will arrive in about 7 hours.
