"Flared Radiators Return"

SU99 sits at the west end of the MC tracks in late afternoon light awaiting a crew and the WS5 to clear up west of them.

Currently running only twice-weekly, NYS&W road train SU-99 passes the restored Maywood Station. Power includes 3618 (SD45), 3634 (SD45), CSX 8835 (SD40-2) & 3010 (SD40T-2).

No one will be needed the tell tales tonight as the engineer has all the controls he needs from the comfort and safety of the cab of NYSW SD45-2 3618.

Ah yes it is summer time on the NYS&W and that only means one thing...day light SU99's. Todays train has crested Sparta Mountain and is now working their way down grade towards the old L&HR.

With the sun shinning three yellow & black EMD's rumble south across the Chenango River enroute to Binghamton and points east.

Now I know why a railroad based out of central NY has such brightly painted locomotives; to combat the gloomy weather.

Fans of the SD45 have heard the bad news that Wisconsin Central is retiring those remaining. Well come see them run on the good ol' Susquehanna. Happy New Year!!
