Leaving Las Vegas! A hot Z train snakes through the curve at Apex. This was one of my lucky wins railfanning Vegas. This train seemed to show regularly in the A.M.

The Apex Local slowly works west toward a small yard to work a rock industry. Nice set of SD40's.

Lady Luck! I was heading up 215 after dropping my wife off to her teaching, heard of an eastbound Z leaving Vegas...just as I was crossing the UP on a bridge, the train showed.

A westbound Manifest dodges clouds as storms move out of the area at Jean. Storms fired up in the mountains crossed the deserts producing hail and lightning earlier.

One of UP's newer GE's could use a bath as it leads the Roper train (WCRO) over the top of the hill at Erie, an altitude of about 3,100 ft.

Coal loads roll downhill at Jean under spectacular blue skies. Sky did not stay blue for long as showers and storms developed later in the day.

It was unusually stormy round Vegas, here thundersnow / storms rumble over the mountains north of the valley, while a manifest works Arden Yard. The DPU on the end waiting.

My very last train of this trip... a UP hotshot intermodal with autos thrown in descending Sloan with an ex SP motor 2nd out. Wife's business trip brings me to Vegas, she teaches I chase UP.

UP was surprising busy the latter half of the week, here a manifest slows at Erie to meet an eastbound. Wife's business trip brings us out here, she teaches while I shoot...she'd rather shoot too.
