A grain wagon makes it way across the Pokey on a fine spring day. After a long winter, the hills are coming back to life as evident by all the fresh color in the mountains.

Of NW heritage and still running fine, an old GP38AC built in 1971 idles away on the Pokey main.

Closeup of a faded ol gal. High hoods are still quite common along the stretch from War Eagle to Thacker, doing trackwork which is a never ending job with the heavy tonnage this stretch endures.

The Gilbert Branch is nothing more than a winding path that follows Ben Creek up the holler. When it was built, I bet no one imagined the amount of tonnage this branch sees today.

A pusher sets quietly waiting on NS 148. The big freight will need the pushers to tackle the steep Pokey grade.

Pusher units shove hard to get the train up the steep and narrow Gilbert Branch.

NS 217 kicks up some snow as it makes up for lost time due to the Pokey tunnel project curfew.

What was once the pusher for mine run U23 has now become the head end power as the train leaves the Pokey main and heads up the Gilbert Branch at Wharncliffe.

The Pokey goes to hoppin just as soon as the curfew ends. Here pushers J29 holds main two waiting on NS 148 to give a shove east as NS 233 rounds the bend on main one.
