Through the heart of Orlando! A three car set has just left Church Street and now heads for Lynx Central. In an attempt to handle the massive crowds, 3 car sets were running.

One of the few pieces of single track on Sunrail is from Maitland to Winter Park, the other is at Lake Monroe. Three car sets have been running to attempt to handle the crush of riders.

The 6:15 am northbound Sunrail train is about to depart the Sand Lake Road Station in Orlando as the blue hour begins.

Opening Day of Sunrail drew 10,891 riders as estimated by FDOT, more than twice what was expected. Here a set pushes towards Orlando in Winter Park on pre existing double track.

Sunrail was running late, due to the crush of 10,891 people who rode today. Due to the trains being late it created a meet right in front of me.

Two Sunrail trains meet on Opening Day at Lake Mary, with one train running a bit late causing the incredible luck of catching a meet here at the station. Trains were packed!

"This train is full!" came the word over the radio. "We can't take any more passengers!" Appropriate that this is my 2,000th photo in the database on this historic day.

Trains were packed on opening day, as a southbound pushes through Winter Park. Warm humid conditions already building clouds in the sky. Over 10,000 rode the rails on day 1.

A historic day in central Florida transport, it's Sunrail Day! After 22 years of planning, struggles, anti tax groups, doubters etc, commuter rail became a reality in Central Florida.
