A single unit leads a short ELOI off the line from Meadville and onto the Southern Tier.
Everyone was after the last D&H (Guilford) trains that were running underneath the viaduct at the time, but CR and NYSW would usually put a couple trains across the viaduct too.

They were everywhere and after fits and starts, CR had them looking pretty good.
Headed southbound to the Louisville area this daily train was kind enough to allow a slow chase. Kodachrome 200.
The "Southern Tier" ex-EL line was the "red-headed stepchild" on Conrail and a few low priority trains rattled over the sub par track in those days.
Nice example of the type.
Conrail finally figured it out, railroad-wise and paint scheme-wise and of course they went away. The sill stripe made the paint job.
