WLE grainer prepares to depart Vardo with a fresh NS crew. WLE crews sat in Connellsville for five hours before getting clearance on CSX.
The generally short V87 backs up to a good chunk of his train while the 203 sits and another local crew works.
Several NS idle after a busy week.
A good sized, one unit wonder local glides south.
UP leads a D940C and a C39-8 on the hotshot 203. Check out the monument's shadow on the bridge pier.
H34 uses the crossover on the heels of the 211. Note how he is a push/pull. This area, essentially yard trackage as freights use it to double cars out of the yard, used to have 2 grade crossing... (more)
After missing Q398 I did manage to get this guy crossing the Monocacy River.
Q296 and its bluegill SD40-2 leader (with different numberboards) creep past the Q398, which is getting a crew change. Both of these trains are on the low grade. There is a coal train on the mai... (more)
11R trots down the "brick" into Vardo Yard, past a lumber facility that opened several months ago.
11R heads south after a couple hours of waiting for other trains. 37Q set off a hotbox detector ahead of him and he had to wait for 203, 227 and 212 and probably 16T earlier. This worker is hosi... (more)
Nice to see a Dash 7 still roaming the rails. I walked up off the tow-path to get this guy. Interesting how the CPL looks like it's between the rails.
While a buzzard looms above, the 227 heads north after meeting the 211. Nice to see some non-catfish trailing.
16T recrews while yard power idles. These two units are about as different as two class I units can get out east.
A different angle from the Burhans Blvd. Bridge. This line actually does not go under the bridge anymore but instead curves to the right. NREX power was trailing, although barely visible.
A 126-car empty coal train passes the old N&W signals at Shenandoah Jct.
