Last light of day.
The Chrisman Shuffle begins as V500 arrives in Chrisman on the former NYC Egyptian Line, having loaded at the Vermillion Grove mine to the north. The train passes NYC signals and clumps over form... (more)
V500 is now pointing east on the former B&O Springfield line, which it will use to its junction with the C&ED Sub at Hillsdale, IN, then proceed the last few miles to Duke Energy's Cayuga plant.
Having completed the Chrisman Shuffle, V500 eases out of town.
V500 passes the ancient B&O state line marker, moving from Illinois into Indiana. This train is the only one that uses this portion of the old B&O to Springfield, and runs very sporadically.
V500 trundles over fields of rich black earth.
