Watching catfish on Christmas Eve was exciting as getting new socks on Christmas Day
The NS 218 comes out of the woods, and approaches the newly reopened River Rd crossing, as it heads east towards Portsmouth on a very nice fall afternoon.
Due to the Heartland Corridor being finished, NS has also added double stacks recently to the NS 218, here we see it rounding the bend by Elmwood, with a decent length train.

The Gilbert Branch is nothing more than a winding path that follows Ben Creek up the holler. When it was built, I bet no one imagined the amount of tonnage this branch sees today.

NS U9Z banks into one of the elevated curves along the Pokey. The cliffs in the background are located across the Tug River in Buchanan County VA.
