The northbound Texas Eagle tries to head out of Dallas, but doesn't make it very far before being held for an opposing Union Pacific freight (allowing this shot).
After striking a truck in Texas the afternoon prior, the northbound "Texas Eagle" makes a rare daylight appearance at CPY 289 with Amtrak's veterans locomotive in the lead.
Bound for Chicago and a few hours behind schedule, Texas Eagle #22 heads north across the Kankakee River in Wilmington. A UP GE leads the way, followed by Phase III P42 #822.
Passengers begin boarding the eastbound Texas Eagle, at Temple, TX. In the distance, a southbound hauling military vehicles waits on the mainline behind NS and UP power.
P42 112 is looking pretty clean, and is a good example of the full Phase V livery including the red sill stripe across the nose, and Amtrak Blue number board with white frutiger numbers.
