An Amtrak Acela Express roars through NJT's Hamilton Station. The station is was built as an inter-modal hub with bus and taxi service. It was opened in 1999 and significantly eased parking issues at neighboring stations in Trenton and Princeton Junction. It's main advantage over those two stations is it's short distance to an interstate highway. The station sees a host of NJT trains and a limited number of Amtrak trains. Roughly 5,000 passengers per day use the station. Track one, in this image, has been covered with a temporary platform while Amtrak proceeds with a project to increase speeds between Trenton, NJ and New Brunswick.
