Trains moving between Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah today have a morass of Form B restrictions to negotiate while Herzog Stacy and Witbeck, Inc. construct a new 45 mile commuter rail line running parallel to UP's Provo Subdivision. Pictured at East Midvale, BNSF Railway's daily Provo, UT to Stockton, CA manifest rolls west through orange safety fencing and red flags at CP RG735. This new UTA route, scheduled to open by 2013 will run just to the left of track #1, making necessary construction of a new bridge over Midvale's Center Street. A casualty of this project will be the replacement of all of the former D&RGW line side signals, including this wonderful searchlight clad structure (one of only five remaining in Utah) lining three tracks down to one at 7725 South. The tall red boom crane in the distance is currently placing beams for a new overpass at Wasatch Street (80th South) in Midvale. All of this construction mayhem runs parallel to busy I-15.
