After disgorging a massive crowd of Mets fans at Mets-Willits Point, a string of Bombardier R62a cars make a climb on its way to the terminal at Main Street Flushing. This extension of the "IRT Flushing Line" was opened on May 7, 1917, nearly 47 years before the New York Mets moved in. Originally a minor stop, the coming of two World's Fairs and two baseball stadiums (Shea and Citi) along with Ashe tennis stadium, have made this a major stop.
