Remarks & Notes
Tanks and flats

The traffic never ends between the ports of Mejillones and Antofagasta and the mines in the Atacama Desert. Copper industry requires its daily flow of sulfuric acid tank cars and empty flat cars that will carry the copper plates back to the Pacific shores. On the FCAB, the old but well maintained ex-Newfoundland engines are often in charge of these trains. The hardest part of the job is about climbing Cumbre Pass between Mejillones and Prat.
