Northbound RF&P No. 502, better known as the Acca Local, scurries through the snow at Colemans Mill, VA on January 9, 1988 with GP40 No. 127. No. 502 was called at Acca Yard in Richmond for 9:00 AM and handled the local business on the south end of the railroad. It would run as far north as Milford, or occasionally Fredericksburg, before turning back to Acca. Those familiar with the RF&P will notice something unusual about this image. GP40 No. 127 is backwards. RF&P kept its even numbered units pointed north and the odd numbered south. By this time, with units operating off line and getting turned, it was increasingly difficult to maintain the policy. Likely, when No. 502 gets back to Acca, the 127 will take a turn on the wye to get properly pointed before heading to Bryan Park Terminal.
