Remarks & Notes |
In its last days running as a Chicago & North Western freight, the daily Escanaba to Green Bay train blares its way through Oconto as winter gives way to spring. The Marinette Sub offered four blocks of street running on Oconto’s Broadway Street. Trains were limited to 30 mph going through town. This line was taken over by Union Pacific the next month and became part of Canadian National in 2001. In the background is a dilapidated depot, demolished in 1999. You can still get a PBR at the bar.
