I made it! There was just enough time to get from Elland to Sands Lane at Mirfield and get the camera out before 'Scots Guardsman' came purposefully striding around the curve at Hopton. The train has just crossed the River Calder over the third bridge inside five miles. The locomotive exhaust conveniently masks most of an unsightly chemical works with a 'steam history' of its own. Once the works belonged to Mirvale Chemical Company that employed its own diminutive 0-4-0 saddle-tank as works shunter from 1955 to 1964. That locomotive, appropriately named 'Mirvale', also survived and can now be seen at the Middleton Railway in Leeds. Meanwhile, the fisherman seen on the right awaits his own catch!
