From the Silver Rails Gallery Collection, Bob Cox photo: Upon arriving in Clifton on a rare milage passenger trip, the riders were greeted with a Phelps Dodge train arriving into town. This train was pulling in to exchange some empty tank cars for some full ones. The chemicals in these tank cars are used in the copper extraction process. After switching this train will return to the Phelps Dodge copper mine in Morenci, Arizona. The line from Clifton, Arizona to Lordsburg, NM used to be SP until the merger then UP used it until it sold the line to the SL&RG. Many tight curves and tunnels make this line to Clifton a sight to behold.
An attempt to put the best picture of engines that represent each of America's railroads. When a better picture of an engine/type is found, it will be added.
