Dos Cabezas - At one time there was a station building located at Dos Cabezas and a water tower fed from a spring up the hill to the left.
The water tower still remains and it once feed the thirsty steam engines that ran through the gorge.
The entrance to the gorge lies about two track miles ahead and the entrance is made through a tunnel that breaches the small mountain range that lies dead ahead in the image.
Our trip to Goat Canyon would take us seven miles overland to the left of the image.
El Centro California is about 30 miles away to the right and the border with Mexico is approximately 5 miles directly behind me. This photo was taken from a grade crossing on a railroad that has been embargoed (has had no trains on it) since 2008.
