As dusk falls the trip is almost over for the crew on NS M64 (Birmingham,AL-Chattanooga,TN), but there was one more hurdle that the crew had to jump before their night was over, and that was to wait for a signal indication to continue north into Chattanooga (M.P. 5.5 (CP) Wauhatchie) on the AGS North-End, but with the Memphis East-End traffic coming off the mountain, and getting back on the NS AGS North End from the CSX Chattanooga Sub just a block ahead, it was going to be a long and loud wait before M64 could move. For some odd reason the second motor head and rear light was on full, but never the less its not everyday...or night that you catch a road freight with an all EMD 3rd generation motor consist use on long distance assignments.
Railroading is a 24 hour a day business, that never sleep. From sunset to sunrise the railroad must run. These image are taken by some of the best rail photographer out their.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
