Remarks & Notes |
Kyune.... The "S" curves at Kyune are the site of a center siding and the former site of a "Y" used to turn back helpers in the Steam Era. When trains were lighter and before DPU Kyune was the normal place to cut out helper locomotives. The grade from just east of of the Kyune Tunnels to Solider Summit stays at about 1%. With the hard climb behind this was a good place to cut off pushers. In this photo an eastbound empty returns to the mines.... This scene could change if the proposed railroad into the Uinta Basin is ever built. |
