Norfolk Southern's Office Car Special climbs the eastern leg of a recently deforested Horseshoe Curve. With the trees out of the way between the signal boxes, it's possible to get shots using any portion of the arc from the park inside the curve once more.
This photo was a capstone of a hot, tiring day that began with climbing the mountainside from Sugar Run Road to reach MG tower. After moving from that location to Horseshoe Curve, the scanner crackled 'NS 955 Clear 241' a few moments after reaching the top of the stairs. Since 900-series indicates a special movement, I knew something different was coming up the hill.
