QUINCY STATION
Just east of Chambersburg, PA is Norlo Park which happens to surround a section of the old Mont Alto Railroad, a branch line of the the Cumberland Valley RR which connected to the mainline near Scotland, PA and ran southeast to Waynesboro. Completed in 1879, the railroad was built to try and cut off competition from the Western Maryland Railway. The entire length of the line was intact and used well into the Penn Central days before finally abandoned when it would not be included in Conrail.
The small Victorian Style Quincy Station pictured here once stood along these tracks approximately ten miles south of it's present location. It had been moved at least three times before James Fouchard purchased the building in 1987. The Guilford Township bought and moved the structure to the park in 2008 and Fouchard faithfully restored it to it's CVRR appearance and today is open for tours and greets families who come to enjoy the free miniature train rides offered by the Cumberland Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society on Saturdays during the Summer and Fall.
