Grand Finale
The Virginian heritage unit had the honor of leading the final Ringling Brothers circus train to be handed off to Amtrak. This hand-off move has occurred many times over the years, but will now become a thing of the past. NS 047 arrived in New Jersey via the Lehigh Line. After the power was run around the train on the P&H Line, the train was brought to the Amtrak connection at Lane interlocking on the Lane Running Track by a Conrail OI-17 crew. Here the train has pulled south onto track 2 of the Northeast Corridor at Lane. Once clear of the interlocking, a pair of Amtrak ACS-64s will tie on and take the train east to Long Island via the North River tunnels.
