Remarks & Notes |
NA Tower or "cabin" in official B&O company documents controlled the interlocking at Martinsburg and Hobbs (9 miles east) until it's closure in 2003.
The building was built in 1898 or 1900, various reports differ and until 1948 stood adjacent to the Berkeley Hotel about 100 feet to the north.
NA Cabin featured a GRS panel relay machine to control the aforementioned crossovers as well as switches at Rattling Bridge and Engles.
it was taken out of commission on July 19, 2003 and has sat dormant since. Plans were to move the structure across the tracks and sit adjacent to the Roundhouse and Shop complex but has never occurred. Despite this and the often break ins by vandals and homeless it stands today.
