Crawling and struggling their way up the grade, the cacophony of EMD 645 prime movers fills the air as two SD40-2s attempt to restart their train on the long grade up Grovania hill. Engine trouble on the first GE required 321 to pick up the two SD40-2s about 20 miles north of this location from a local working the area. However, the tonnage was too great for the two SD40-2s and they fell down about 3 miles into Grovania hill. Therefore, the following train uncoupled its lead units and gave 321 an assist over the hill. Therefore, 321 had manned helpers for about 10 miles - an extremely rare occurrence for this part of Georgia.
