China Railways High-Speed train G6502 makes a stop at the Humen Station in Humen Town, Dongguan City, China, on October 22, 2018. This Fuxing (复兴号) train originated at Hong Kong West Kowloon and is traveling to GuangZhouNan. As evidenced by the red lights, this is the rear of the train - the stop wasn't long enough for me to get to the front after getting off it before it departed! These trains are punctual and fast - the highest speed I noted while riding it a relatively short distance was 305 km/h (189.5 mph), and the ride was smooth as glass at that speed, and much quieter and more spacious than an airliner. This "bullet train" system is impressive, and greatly needed in the US. I am hopeful that Californians will not give up on the high-speed rail that is currently under construction, and these are certainly preferable to flying, given the hassles of TSA security needed to board a cramped aircraft these days.
