For more then 30 years, since 1982, the "Crocodile" Ce 6/8 II # 14270 was exhibited in Erstfeld, exposed to wind and weather. Slowly it is threatening to rust away, and the space is also needed for a new parking lot in connection with the new intervention center for the Gotthard Base Tunnel. The locomotive will be given a new sheltered parking space in Zurich Oerlikon, where the electrical part was built by MFO, after an external refurbishment. In January 2013, the drive and coupling rods were removed already and strong beams mounted under the bogie to put the locomotive back on the rails with large railway cranes.
